LED Lighting for Carports

“LED lighting for carports” you may well ask? Have we all gone crazy here at Metal Carports and Kits? However, read on and you soon see why we are so enthusiastic.

As we all know car ports need not necessarily just be erected to provide shelter for the family car(s), bikes or boats. Increasingly many people are using them for other reasons because of the extra space they offer so close to home. Carports are ideal if you are fixing a vehicle, working on a DIY or art project, or eating alfresco with family or friends. Particularly popular at holiday times, carports are often used as kids’ play areas or utilised as extra storage space, but however you use your carport, lighting is very important.

Portable Carports

When you hear the word ‘carport‘ most people think of the permanent ones which are attached or freestanding and are situated next to the home and provide shelter for a car, bikes or boat. However, portable pop-up carports have become increasingly popular in recent years and are not just used to park under as they can be used in a variety of different environments for a variety of uses so that many situations could be improved with the use of these structures.

The basic structure of portable carports means they are easy and quick to erect and comprise a foldable cover, telescoping assemblies at the four corners and anchoring legs. Anchoring sets can be purchased but many people just use bags filled with sand, pebbles or stones to weight the carport down whilst in use. Although most portable pop-up carports are open structures it is easy to add removable sidewalls to provide more protection from the sun, sand or rain or even from ants and insects.

Portable carports

Portable canopy carports can be great in a number of environments for a variety of uses and in many situations either as  features or for providing shelters. For instance:

– If you are having a garage or car boot sale you make your pitch look different and enticing whilst keeping your sale items protected.

– If you are selling items at a craft fair or open-air market a portable carport can offer shade from the heat or rain.

– Portable carports are ideal to take to the beach as they can be erected almost instantly and provide welcome shade from the sun’s harmful UV rays as well as protecting food from the sand and flies.

– If you are having an outdoor wedding a portable carport can be used either as a feature or to provide some protection from the weather. There is a wide choice of colors on the market allowing your carport to be customised for special events but still allowing you to use it time after time in the future.

– Those who love to do DIY may well welcome having a structure like a portable carport to work under as they provide shelter.

– Kids, as we all know, benefit from being outdoors so a portable carport means they can still play outside whatever the weather and they are great for hosting a children’s party.

– Family gatherings or romantic dinners can be enjoyed under a portable carport especially if you have outdoor lighting.

So, as you can see, it may well be worth investing in a portable pop-up canopy carport!

Planning for the future

Times have been tough for a while now, and plenty of people all over the world are suffering as a result of the turbulent economy. We’ve been told that we should be more responsible with our money, and yet putting it into savings with abysmal interest rates or making potentially risky investments is not the way to go.

In the UK, the coming implementation of auto-enrolment means that more futures will be made secure through compulsory pension contributions for employees. This will enable people to have more money in retirement in order to make home improvements, fund hobbies and enjoy higher quality food and drink without worrying about increasing costs or constantly shifting money around savings accounts. But what can people do at home to improve their outlook?

If you’re a homeowner, it’s advisable to think about adding more value to your property no matter what stage of life you’re at, particularly if you’re lucky enough to be in a stable (or fairly stable) position. Alternatively, you may be thinking about selling or renting part or all of your land or property. You could even make money by renting out car parking space on your land. A carport will help with all these things, and has the other important advantage of protecting your own vehicles for as long as you need. Whilst a carport may seem like a considerable investment, you can save money by buying a second hand carport or purchasing a carport kit that contains everything you need.

Assembly is straightforward if you can persuade a friend to help, and in no time at all you have added an extra selling point for your home and potentially another small source of income if you choose to rent the shelter out. Carports are much cheaper than garages and can be just as practical and well-built if you choose carefully….then all you have to worry about is paying for gas and your car insurance!

A carport is an unusual and often overlooked way to plan for the future, whether that future is as short term as winter or as long term as retirement. It’s never to early to start saving or add clever investment to your property whilst you’re still living there and can take advantage of it. If you buy a portable carport you can even take it with you or split the cost with a friend.
