Carports with adjustable legs are a great way to have all the benefits of a carport on uneven ground, and there are plenty of other benefits too. Read on to find out more.
Adjusting your carport
Although the most common type of adjustable carport consists of raising or lowering individual legs in order to allow for more stability and better placement, there are also other types of adjustable carports.
Some models allow you to adjust the height, allowing for larger vehicles such as bigger trucks or shorter ones such as scooters or Minis. These types are perfect if you see different types of vehicles come and go. Others adjust outwards to allow for multiple vehicles or with lower extensions to reach out over a door or entrance. These kinds of adjustable carports are great if you really want to tailor your carport to your property and make it look more like a natural extension, or simply if you want to avoid the worst of the weather whilst heading out to your car.
Portable carports
Adjustable carports should be considered along with portable carports as many models available on the market today provide both features. So if you’re looking for a truly versatile vehicle storage solution, a portable and adjustable carport is likely to be your best option.
However, you need to consider the climate and general weather in your region as both portable and adjustable carports are slightly less stable than their permanent counterparts. This is generally not a problem unless you’re in an area which suffers from extreme weather conditions. Even then, you can take additional steps to secure your carport if necessary.
It’s recommended that you don’t try and turn your existing portable carport into an ‘adjustable’ carport by propping it up on something or attempting to reduce the height of the legs more than it naturally allows for. Doing so will affect the balance and operation of your carport and may cause damage to people or vehicles.
Permanent adjustable carports
Permanent carports can also be adjustable in some cases, but this is likely to be a custom job which will involve spending more money. If you do go down this route, make sure you’ve involved throughout the process to ensure you get exactly what you’re looking for. You can expect it to take a lot longer to be created and shipped to you due to the amount of work involved. You’ll also need to make sure your measurements are spot on – so dealing with local companies or those prepared to send out a representative is not a bad idea.
